While it's certainly possible that Arena will eventually replace Magic Online if, despite the fact that they aren't the target audience of Magic Arena , enfranchised Magic Online players decide en masse that they would rather play on the new client and stop playing Magic Online , causing the original client to lose its player base and, along with it, its profitability, then Wizards would undoubtedly shutter Magic Online that's not the goal of Arena or Wizards ' plan
On the other end of things, original games such as Flesh and Blood have earned respect among hardcore trading card game enthusiasts looking for an alternative to Magic: The Gathering, but dont necessarily have the familiar characters and welcoming gameplay simplicity needed to bring in brand new players to the world of TCGs
Basically, for a flashback card to be playable, the front half either has to be close to on-par for its effect, so the flashback aspect of the card is a bonus / afterthought, or the reward for getting the card in the graveyard is good enough that you don't mind building around a card that's not that great in your hand
Its not meant to cause a huge tempo loss a la Stone Rain, but rather to knock your opponent off just enough to take advantage
